    Church History

Good Shepherd was officially dedicated on September 21st 1969 following the merger of First St.Paul, South Side and Bethany Lutheran of Pleasant Hills. First services were held at Baldwin High School until the sanctuary was completed. The property was donated by Mrs.Elizabeth Colteryahn who also later donated the remainder of her property to our neighbor church, Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church. The Memorial Tower houses the bells cast for First St. Paul in 1866.

The first pastor of Good Shepherd was Pastor Bornhoeft, followed by Pastor Pingel in 1969 and Pastor Doellinger in 1988. Pastor Daniel Strussenberg was recently installed, August 19, 2001

Approximately 225 worshippers attend the Sunday Services with an active Sunday School program between the Services. Good Shepherd is located just south from the City of Pittsburgh in Whitehall Borough.
